The DSC PG9985 is a wireless PowerG indoor flood detector that continuously monitors for unacceptable water levels via a 1.8m (6 feet) cable. If water is detected (e.g. when both probes are in contact with the water) the PG9985 wireless communicates an alarm condition to the PowerG compatible alarm system.
The PG9985 senses the presence of water prompting advance warning of potential flooding. The tamper switch is activated when the cover is removed. In addition, the device is supervised and sends a probe disconnection alert upon the detection of a probe terminal connection failure. An LED lights whenever alarm or tamper events are reported. The LED does not light while a supervision message is being transmitted. Operating power is obtained from a 3V lithium battery. When the battery voltage is low, a "low battery" message is sent to the receiver.
The PG9985 transmitter is installed at a higher level on the wall with the probe located at floor level or a desired height. In the event there is a water leak, the probe will detect the moisture and deliver the information to the transmitter. An LED indicator on the PG9985 lets the installer choose the optimal location for installation, eliminating the effort of going back and forth to the keypad. Avoid mounting the transmitter portion of the device behind a metal object such as a washing machine, refrigerator or freezer. RF signals can be affected by metal objects. After every flood detection, each flood detector should be cleaned and dried.
